Finding a solution to your eczema story may prove to be a pretty difficult task. If you’re like most eczema sufferers, you have tried everything from medication to crazy urban legends, probably with no success. This process can be very frustrating, but just remember that sometimes the answer may not be as difficult as you think.
I have horrible eczema in a really weird place – my scalp. Some people may not think that this is that troubling because hair will cover the scalp, right? Wrong. When my eczema got bad, it got really bad. I had flakes of skin just coming off of my scalp and going right back into my hair. It didn’t just fall away. The only way I could get the flakes of skin out of my hair was to get a fine tooth comb and literally comb every strand of hair I had, pulling the flakes of skin out along the way.
Nothing helped, I think I tried every possible Eczema Treatment; I would not wash my hair for a couple of days hoping that the natural oils in my scalp would help to ease the flakiness. I tried scrubbing my head extra hard when I washed, hoping that I could scrub away the flakes and then just comb them out later. I tried taking vitamin E capsules both by mouth and by breaking them open and putting them onto my scalp. Doctors had no solution for my problem. For them, it was just something I needed to deal with and live with. I had no hope left when it came to finding a solution for my problem, until I went for a hair cut.
As my hairdresser was washing my hair, she noticed the scabs that I literally scratched into my head from the itching of the skin. She asked me what I had tried to get rid of it, and I told her – everything. She told me that there was a shampoo on the market called Biolage Hydratherapie. She warned me that as far as shampoo goes that it could be pretty expensive, but with this being the only hope I had left, I decided I would try it.
Now, the shampoo itself is for dry or course hair, not necessarily for scalp problems. Biolage also has a line of shampoo called Biolage Scalptherapie that is made for dandruff, which has also proven to work pretty well. The 33.8 oz bottle of shampoo costs anywhere from $20.00-$25.00. You will spend around $45.00-$50.00 for the set of a bottle of shampoo with a tub of conditioner. When I first heard the price, I almost fainted, but as I said, at that point, I was willing to try anything.
So, I bought the shampoo and conditioner set and went home to try it out. It’s important to point out that I did not get immediate results. I kept at it though and after about two weeks of washing my hair every other night with the Biolage set, I started to notice that my scalp was not as itchy. I also did not have as many flakes. I have been using it ever since, and have had great results.
I asked my doctor what it was in the shampoo that could be helping and he advised me that my results were related directly to all of the major ingredients in the shampoo. The shampoo contains wheat germ, aloe vera, and algae. These are moisturizing agents and as long as you get all of the shampoo out while rinsing, it really works well.
I would recommend this product to anyone suffering from eczema on their scalp. It has by far been the best product I have used for my problem. It works well, smells great, and honestly, makes your hair look pretty good too. Remember, this product is only sold in salons, so if you’re looking for a bargain, it is probably best to shop for it on ebay or amazon.com. Other than those two places, there is really no cheap place to buy this product. But, as I stated earlier, Biolage Hydratherapie was well worth the investment.
